The new Central Bank of Ireland headquarters on North Wall Quay is the most iconic building project completed in Dublin City in recent years. The completed project built to the highest energy standards stands at over eight storeys tall and has a total area of approximately 29,000m2. The development will provide a central location in exemplary office accommodation and ancillary facilities to over 1,500 employees.
Designed by architects Henry J Lyons, the building form is made by wrapping the workplace in a simple but sophisticated glass skin which in turn is protected and shielded from glare and solar heat gain by an outer layer of anodized aluminium triangular mesh panels. The design uses high performance, long life materials to create a highly sustainable and energy efficient building with a target of BREEAM Excellent accreditation and a BER of A2.
Vilicom Solution Delivery
Vilicom was appointed to provide a Multi-Operator Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to provide mobile coverage throughout the building on this €140m overall project. Vilicom was responsible for the design, installation, procurement of materials, and commissioning of the system.
Whilst some local cellular coverage could be accessed from within the building, the Central Bank wanted to ensure that coverage and capacity reached optimal levels, making communication easy for both business and leisure. The central bank commissioned Vilicom through their ICT partner to deliver a comprehensive system that would guarantee a high-quality user experience.
The system installed is a 3 Sector Passive Multi-Operator Distributed Antenna System (DAS) which has been designed to the latest Joint Operator Specifications and is GSM900, GSM1800, LTE1800, UMTS2100, UMTS900, and LTE800 compatible.
