Facility Overview

The new Bristol-Myers Squibb Biologics Manufacturing Facility in Dublin is a state of the art global Bio-Pharma facility developing and delivering innovative medicines.  The gross area of BMS Cruiserath facility is 130 acres and its four buildings are constructed primarily of concrete frames with structural steel elements.

Costing over $1billion to develop, when it is fully operational in late 2018, the plant will employ approximately 440 scientists, engineers, bioprocess operators, quality specialists and other skilled workers.

Vilicom Solution Delivery

Vilicom’s solution was supplied to provide easy communication for day to day business, a push-to-talk facility for operators and mission critical safety communications for a man-down system for lone workers and those in confined spaces.

The solution was achieved using multi-operator Distributed Antenna System (DAS) infrastructure to provide cellular mobile coverage throughout all buildings, ensuring seamless coverage on the whole campus.  Vilicom was responsible for turnkey delivery including design, installation, materials procurement, system commissioning and project management.

3G and 4G repeaters were used to feed a passive DAS, which was chosen as the optimal solution for the four buildings and designed to the latest Joint Operator Specifications. The installation was challenging, involving working on a active heavy-construction site and many competing priorities. However, with focused project management, a flexible approach and working closely with the main contractor the project was delivered on time and within budget.
